Broken Link Fix Thanks to Google Sitemaps

Google Sitemaps has added a new feature to its sitemap program for webmasters which is great.

It informs you of broken links. So gone are the days of using those expensive diagnostic programs?

Well, you could still have messed up code somewhere on your website…which is why we’re full of gratitude to Wordpress, as this is what the bulk of the site uses to manage the content of the video clip section.

Now we just have about 800+ broken links to fix. We knew these were there and where to find them…but it was a wakeup call to find out that there were so many!

More work to do…

Almost through all 800+ of the broken links. What a chore this has been. It was a good opportunity though as the webpartner with the links that were all jumbled up has some decent PR pages within them…so some link text was able to be added as well and many of the videos recategorized which should help the users.

All broken links are fixed and I am checking and fixing daily on the content partner giving the links so that they will work for users.

This was a ton of work and not very fun…Got alot of videos reclassified though so they are now in the right category. Also brought some of the more entertaining to the top of the list by editing timestamps.
